Ride The Wave
The Ride the Wave Festival established in 2021 has become an annual fundraising event for Make A Difference PMQ (M.A.D) that showcases our region to the wider community whilst advocating for the disadvantaged and marginalised. Hosted at Town Beach Port Macquarie the inaugural festival was successful in raising funds to complete the M.A.D food van and contributed towards an accompanying food trailer. M.A.D is a local not for profit charitable organisation who raised the funds to bring the Orange Sky Laundry Van to the Hastings region. Since then we have raised enough money to purchase a food and coffee van to help feed the disadvantaged and less fortunate in our community.
We are excited to team with Surfing NSW and Port Macquarie Hastings Council to bring the Ride the Wave Festival to Port Macquarie once again.
In 2022 the festival will include competitions for short and long board surfing and a skate and scooter comp. In addition, a Battle of the Bands style competition will also take place. This will culminate in a ticketed music festival titled Ride the Soundwave, that includes free market stalls, food vendors and family activities in the skate park precint. A special addition to this festival is the over 18s “Barrel Room” beer garden provided within the ticketed Ride the Sound Wave area.
100% of the entry fees will be donated to the “Make a Difference Mobile Food Van Service” to support people experiencing homelessness in our local area and also domestic violence services within our region. Ride the Wave aims to raise over $20,000 annually.

In addition, ‘Live Set’ a Solo Acoustic Battle of the Bands style competition advocating for new regional music in our area will also take place.
Across two mammoth days Ride the Sound Wave 2022 will host Oz rock royalty British India, Jebediah, Dallas Crane, The Casanovas, End of Fashion, feature indie rock queens Clews, and acoustic sensation Gaudion and Dusty Boots in the beautiful surrounds of Town Beach Port Macquarie as part of the broader Ride the Wave Festival hosted by local charity Make a Difference PMQ.
The festival aims to support and strengthen youth culture and regional tourism whilst advocating for the marginalised and disadvantaged in the local community.
