WHAT:
‘Live Set 2023 ‘’ is a Battle of the Bands competition that is open to all bands and solo artists of any style with a connection to the coastline or surf culture.
The finale of the competition is an event staged on Sunday April 30th within the annual Ride the Wave Festival at Town Beach Port Macquarie. The competition will give performers the chance to win great exposure and prizes, as well as helping raise much needed funds for the Make a Difference (MAD) charity.
The ‘Live Set 2023’ competition will be staged the day after indie, folk and rock legends including Boy & Bear, The Waifs, Busby Marou and Tullara hit the same beachside stage at the all-ages, dog friendly Ride the Soundwave festival on Saturday April 29.
First prize for the winning band or solo artist will be $800, a prize pack, Ride the Wave Festival merch pack and free tickets (valued at $90 ea) to Ride the Soundwave Music Festival taking place at the same venue on Saturday 29th April.
The runner-up will receive $200, free tickets to Ride the Soundwave AND a Ride the Wave Festival merch pack.
WHO:
Two finalists (as judged online by popular vote) will battle it out live on stage with a 20 minute set of ORIGINAL MATERIAL (family friendly please) as part of the ‘Live Set 2023’ event. The winner will be judged by popular vote from the public at the event.
WHEN:
5pm Sunday March 26th – registration for performers wanting to be in the running closes
March 27th – April 2nd – Videos of the top 5 entries (judged by event organisers and industry professionals) will be posted to The Ride the Wave YouTube channel for public voting between these dates
Sunday April 30th – Live performances by the two winning finalists will happen on-stage at the Ride the Wave event from 11:00am

Entry Details:
Email a live performance video of ONE ORIGINAL SONG (or link to your video housed on youtube or instagram) to rob@madpmq.com.au for judging. The video is to be no longer than 5 mins. (Please note that finalists are to perform a 20min set of original material to a “family friendly” audience).
